Taxonomy
Palaeopython helveticus was named by Georgalis and Scheyer (2019). Its type specimen is PIMUZ A/III 634, a set of vertebrae (Anterior-middle trunk vertebra), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Dielsdorf fissure A, which is in an Eocene fissure fill limestone in Switzerland.
