Taxonomy
Eopecten johnsoni was named by Szente (1996). It is not extant. Its type specimen is EUŐT 96/1, Department o f Palaeontology, Loránd Eötvös University, Budapest. Its type locality is Eplény, Manganese Ore Mine, Bakony Mts., which is in a Margaritatus shallow subtidal limestone in the Hierlatz Limestone Formation of Hungary.
