Taxonomy
Menidarum occultus was named by Nolf and Bajpai (1992). It is considered to be a form taxon. Its type specimen is P 5927, an otolith, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Rato Nala bridge no. 241, which is in a Lutetian marine claystone in the Harudi Formation of India.
