Mollistephanus planulatus

Taxonomy
Docidoceras planulatum was named by Buckman (1921). Its type specimen is (BGS GSM32062, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Bradford Abbas, Fossil Bed (Buckman), which is in a Bajocian carbonate limestone in the Aston Limestone Formation of the United Kingdom.

It was recombined as Mollistephanus planulatus by Chandler and Dietze (2004).

R. B. Chandler and V. Dietze 2004A small stephanoceratid species with characters intermediate between Riccardiceras and typical Mollistephanus. The morphology is rather cadiconic and the whorl breadth is narrow giving the specimen a compressed appearance.
