Taxonomy
Burnetia was named by Broom (1923). It is not extant. Its type is Burnetia mirabilis. It is the type genus of Burnetiidae.
It was assigned to Burnetidae by Broom (1923); to Burnetiidae by Carroll (1988), Sigogneau-Russell (1989), Rubidge and Sidor (2002), Rubidge et al. (2006), Smith et al. (2006), Sidor and Smith (2007); and to Burnetiinae by Kammerer (2016).
