Taxonomy
Hypodiadema elegans was named by Clark and Twitchell (1915). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Muddy and Clear forks of the Little Missouri River, which is in a Cretaceous marine sandstone in the Trinity Formation of Arkansas.
