Taxonomy
Rafinesquina pulchella was named by Raymond (1928). Its type specimen is M.C.Z. 8624, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. It is the type species of Apatomorpha.
It was recombined as Apatomorpha pulchella by Cooper (1956).
