Taxonomy
Scutaster vaquerosensis kewi was named by Loel and Corey (1932). Its type specimen is UCMP 31717, a test, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is UCMP loc. A335, Grimes Canyon, Oak Ridge, which is in a Miocene coastal horizon in the Vaqueros Formation of California.
