Taxonomy
Laganum floridanum was named by Clark and Twitchell (1915) [attributed to Twitchell only]. It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Turks Cave, which is in an Oligocene marine horizon in Alabama.
It was recombined as Durhamella floridanum by Kier (1968).
