Taxonomy
Psammechinus ocalanus was named by Cooke (1941). Its type specimen is USNM 498889 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Bainbridge, north, which is in an Eocene carbonate limestone in the Ocala Formation of Georgia.
