Taxonomy
Coelopleurus singularis was named by Nisiyama (1966). Its type specimen is IGPS 73718 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Shirahama shrine, which is in a Miocene marine horizon in the Shirahama Formation of Japan.
