Palaeosauropus primaevus
Taxonomy
Sauropus primaevus was named by Lea (1849). It is considered to be a form taxon. It is a trace fossil. Its type locality is South of Pottsville, which is in a Mississippian terrestrial sandstone in the Mauch Chunk Formation of Pennsylvania. It is the type species of Palaeosauropus.
It was recombined as Palaeosauropus primaevus by Hay (1902), Hay (1930), Haubold (1971).
