Taxonomy

Pectinites salinarius was named by Schlotheim (1820).

It was recombined as Monotis salinaria by Rothpletz (1892), Kittl (1912), Krumbeck (1924), Bychkov et al. (1976); it was recombined as Monotis (Monotis) salinaria by Grant-Mackie (1978).

Synonyms

Monotis limaeformis was named by Gemmellaro (1882). It is not extant. Its type locality is Neviera, which is in a Carnian marine horizon in Italy.

It was synonymized subjectively with Monotis salinaria by Grant-Mackie (1978).
Monotis kaukasica was named by Wittenburg (1913). It is not extant.

It was synonymized subjectively with Monotis salinaria by Grant-Mackie (1978).
