Ambystoma kansense
Taxonomy
Ambystoma kansense was named by Adams and Martin (1929) [Palatine joined to pterygoid and extending anteriorly, probably to articulate with vomer, a condition suggesting the larval condition in modern Ambystoma. Palatine end of pterygoid with 6-8 teeth; maxilla twice as long as wide, while in A. tigrinum the width of the maxilla is contained in the length three times. Tips of the teeth cone shaped, as opposed to the peg-like teeth of most modern Ambystoma.]. Its type specimen is KUMVP 5250, a skeleton (Disarticulated skeleton), and it is a 3D body fossil.
