Decapterus hopkinsi
Taxonomy
Lompochites hopkinsi was named by Jordan and Gilbert (1920). Its type specimen is Stanford University Paleontology Type Collection 101 (a shadowy impression of a large fish, complete but very faint, ten inches long to base of caudal) and is an impression. Its type locality is Lompoc Quarry, which is in a Tortonian basinal (siliciclastic) diatomite in the Monterey Formation of California.
It was recombined as Decapterus (Lompochites) hopkinsi by David (1943); it was recombined as Decapterus hopkinsi by Fierstine et al. (2012).
