Taxonomy
Salenia buddyi was named by Osborn et al. (2016). Its type specimen is UF 238462, a test, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Southern Aggregates Jamestown Quarry, which is in a Lutetian offshore shelf limestone in the Santee Limestone Formation of South Carolina.
