Echinolampas andalusiensis was named by Osborn et al. (2016). Its type specimen is UF 238469, a test, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Fall Creek mouth, which is in a Bartonian marine horizon in the Moodys Branch Formation of Alabama.
