Kimbetohia was named by Simpson (1936). It is not extant. Its type is Kimbetohia campi.
It was assigned to Ptilodontidae by Simpson (1936), Clemens and Kielan-Jaworowska (1979), McKenna and Bell (1997), Kielan-Jaworowska and Hurum (2001), Middleton and Dewar (2004), Kielan-Jaworowska et al. (2004) and Lofgren et al. (2012).
It was assigned to Ptilodontidae by Simpson (1936), Clemens and Kielan-Jaworowska (1979), McKenna and Bell (1997), Kielan-Jaworowska and Hurum (2001), Middleton and Dewar (2004), Kielan-Jaworowska et al. (2004) and Lofgren et al. (2012).
