The original name of the species was Ammonites horridus, but this name was corrected by hand to Ammonites truncus in some copies of the original publication, and so the name A. truncus is generally preferred (Diener 1907)
Taxonomy
Ammonites truncus was named by Oppel (1865). It is not extant. Its type locality is Kuling, Spiti, which is in an Anisian marine horizon in India.
