Ceratites (Peripleurocyclus) smithianus was named by Diener (1907). It is not extant. Its type locality is Jolinka, which is in an Anisian marine horizon in Nepal. It is the type species of Ceratites (Peripleurocyclus).
It was recombined as Peripleurocyclus smithianus by Spath (1934).
