Taxonomy
Cypellia was named by Pomel (1872) [Sepkoski's age data: J Aale J Kimm-l Sepkoski's reference number: 775]. It is not extant. It is the type genus of Cypelliidae.

It was assigned to Lychniscosa by Sepkoski (2002); and to Cypelliidae by Finks et al. (2004).
