Taxonomy
Polygonatium was named by Schrammen (1937) [Sepkoski's age data: J Oxfo-l Sepkoski's reference number: 1066]. It is not extant. Its type is Polygonatium sphaeroides. It is the type genus of Aulocalycidae.

It was assigned to Lychniscosa by Sepkoski (2002); and to Aulocalycidae by Finks et al. (2004).
