Galeodea fax was named by Tegland (1931). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is UCMP loc. A-730, Porter locality, which is in an Oligocene marine shale in the Porter Formation of Washington.
It was recombined as Liracassis fax by Moore (1963); it was recombined as Echinophoria fax by Durham (1942), Durham (1944), Hendy (2020).
