Taxonomy
Fusus hecoxi was named by Arnold (1908). Its type specimen is USNM 165446, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Fusus (Priscofusus) hecoxi by Clark (1918); it was recombined as Priscofusus hecoxi by Grant and IV and Gale (1931); it was recombined as Fusinus (Priscofusus) hecoxi by Wagner and Schilling (1923), Tegland (1933).
