Taxonomy
Macrocallista andersoni was named by Dickerson (1915). Its type specimen is CAS 269 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is CAS loc. 244, Live Oak Canyon, which is in an Eocene marginal marine sandstone/shale in the Tejon Formation of California.
It was recombined as Callista andersoni by Givens and Kennedy (1979), Nilsen (1987).
