Taxonomy
Crassispirifer transversa was named by Waterhouse (2004). It is not extant. Its type specimen is China University of Geosciences, Beijing Campus, 74102. Its type locality is Mayang 81KFA74-1, Zanda County, which is in a Wuchiapingian marine siliciclastic in the Mangzongrong Formation of China.
