Dissimiliplica compactus
Taxonomy
Spirifer mexicanus compactus was named by Girty (1909). Its type specimen is USNM 118589, a shell (Articulated shell), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is USGS 2926 green, Capitan Peak, Guadalupe Mountains, which is in a Capitanian reef, buildup or bioherm limestone in the Capitan Formation of Texas.
It was recombined as Elivina compacta by Cooper and Grant (1976), Cooper and Grant (1976); it was recombined as Dissimiliplica compactus by Waterhouse (2004).
