Sporadopyle was named by Zittel (1877) [Sepkoski's age data: J Oxfo-l K u Sepkoski's reference number: 643,775]. It is not extant.

It was synonymized objectively with Favispongia by Finks et al. (2004).

It was assigned to Euretidae by Hinde (1883); to Sporadopylidae by Lagneau-Herenger (1962); and to Lychniscosa by Sepkoski (2002).
