Taxonomy
Fistellaspongia was named by Rigby and Maher (1995) [Sepkoski's age data: S Ludl-u]. It is not extant. Its type is Fistellaspongia inclinata.

It was assigned to Lyssacinosida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Brachiospongiidae by Rigby and Maher (1995), Finks and Rigby (2004).
