Taxonomy
Cryptocolax clarnensis was named by Scott (1956). It is considered to be a form taxon. Its type specimen is USGS Wood Coll., slide no. W-349, an other, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is USGS Paleobotany Locality No. D2000, which is in an Eocene terrestrial horizon in the Clarno Formation of Oregon.
