Tornatella punctocaelata was named by Carpenter (1864). It is extant.

It was recombined as Rictaxis punctocaelata by Williamson (1892); it was recombined as Actaeon (Rictaxis) punctocoelata by Arnold (1903); it was recombined as Acteon (Rictaxis) punctocoelatus by Oldroyd (1925), Grant and IV and Gale (1931); it was recombined as Acteon punctocaelata by Bruff (1946); it was recombined as Acteon punctocaelatus by Woodring and Bramlette (1950) and Chace (1966); it was recombined as Rictaxis punctocaelatus by Hendy (2021).
