Mangelia variegata was named by Carpenter (1864). It is extant.

It was recombined as Mangelia (Bela) variegata by Grant and IV and Gale (1931); it was recombined as Clathromangelia variegata by Marincovich (1976); it was recombined as Tenaturris variegata by Hendy (2021).
