Pecten diegensis was named by Dall (1898) [DISTRIBUTION: California-Baja California, Mexico (Recent); western North America (Pliocene).]. It is extant.

It was recombined as Euvola diegensis by Coan et al. (2000); it was recombined as Leopecten diegensis by Hendy (2021).

Synonyms
  • Pecten floridus was named by Hinds (1845). It is extant.

    It was replaced with Pecten diegensis by Dall (1898).
  • Pecten laqueatus was named by Sowerby (1842). It is extant.

    It was synonymized subjectively with Euvola diegensis by Coan et al. (2000).
