Taxonomy
Apsotreta orifera was named by Palmer (1954). Its type specimen is UT-32192b, a valve (pedicle), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is JR-42, which is in a Guzhangian marine limestone in the Riley Formation of Texas.
