Taxonomy
Opisthotreta depressa was named by Palmer (1954). Its type specimen is UT-32202d, a valve (pedicle), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is TC-660, which is in a Guzhangian marine limestone/siltstone in the Riley Formation of Texas. It is the type species of Opisthotreta.
