Sigaretus raynevalli was named by Ponzi (1876). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Cava Vannutelli quarry, Monte Vaticano, which is in a Zanclean deep-water marl in the Monte Vaticano Formation of Holy See (Vatican City State).
