Lenodus martinpointensis was named by Johnston and Barnes (2000) [Lenodus? martinpointensis n. sp. and , pp. , pl. 3, figs. 16–31, text-fig. 1.]. It is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Nealeodus martinpointensis by Stouge (2012).
