Gothodus marathonensis was named by Bradshaw (1969). It is a 3D body fossil.
It was recombined as Mikrozarkodina marathonensis by Ethington and Clarke (1982); it was recombined as Fahraeosodus marathonensis by Stouge and Bagnoli (1988); it was recombined as Fahraeusodus marathonensis by Rasmussen (2001).
