Taxonomy

Volsella telea was named by Stewart (1930). Its type specimen is ANSP 4396 and is a 3D body fossil.

Sister species lacking formal opinion data

V. compressa, V. fittoni

Synonyms

Modiola cylindrica was named by Gabb (1864).

It was replaced with Volsella telea by Stewart (1930); it was recombined as Modiolus cylindricus by Anderson (1958).
