Desmoceras kitchini was named by Krenkel (1910). It is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Tetragonites kitchini by Murphy (1967), McLearn (1972); it was recombined as Tetragonites (Tetragonites) kitchini by Cooper and Kennedy (1979).
