Epigymnites frequens was named by Fantini Sestini (1994). It is not extant. Its type specimen is N.9137, Museo di Scienze Naturali, Bergamo. Its type locality is Val Parina, S746, which is in a Longobardian perireef or subreef limestone in the Esino Formation of Italy.
