Trachyceras pustericum was named by Mojsisovics (1878).
It was recombined as Acrochordiceras pustericum by von Mojsisovics (1882), Arthaber (1896), Arthaber (1896), Diener (1907), Arthaber (1915); it was recombined as Epacrochordiceras pustericum by Spath (1934), Fantini Sestini (1988); it was synonymized subjectively with Acrochordiceras carolinae by Monnet et al. (2010).
