Taxonomy
Boreopeltis smithi was named by Fuchs and Larson (2011). Its type specimen is MNHNL CRE11 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Haqel (MNHNL collection), which is in a Cenomanian lagoonal/restricted shallow subtidal carbonate in Lebanon.
