Taxonomy
Boreopeltis soniae was named by Wade (1993). Its type specimen is QMF 25285, an other (gladius), and it is a 3D body fossil. It is the type species of Eromangateuthis.

It was recombined as Eromangateuthis soniae by Fuchs (2019).
