Taxonomy
Rachiteuthis acutali was named by Jattiot et al. (2015). Its type specimen is MNHN.F.A50408 and is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Hadjoula (MNHN collection), which is in a Cenomanian lagoonal/restricted shallow subtidal lime mudstone in the Sannine Limestone Formation of Lebanon.
