Taxonomy
Scaphites pumilis was named by Stephenson (1941) [DISTRIBUTION: Campanian; Western Interior.]. It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Hoploscaphites pumilis by Kennedy and Cobban (1993); it was recombined as Hoploscaphites pumilus by Machalski and Odin (2001).
