Taxonomy
Pinna pontica was named by Anderson (1938). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is CAS Loc. 1353, near the bridge on the North fork of Cottonwood Creek, which is in a Hauterivian marine siliciclastic in the Budden Canyon Formation of California.
