Hoplites angulatus was named by Stanton (1895) [DISTRIBUTION: Early Cretaceous; Pacific Coast; North America.]. Its type specimen is USNM 23093, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil.
It was recombined as Berriasella angulata by Anderson (1938); it was recombined as Sarasinella angulata by Imlay (1960).
