Spiticeras duncanense was named by Anderson (1938) [DISTRIBUTION: Early Cretaceous; Pacific Coast, North America.]. It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is CAS Loc. 1665, Duncan Creek, which is in a Hauterivian marine siliciclastic in the Budden Canyon Formation of California.
It was recombined as Hoplocrioceras duncanense by Imlay (1960).
