Taxonomy
Protrachyceras negevense was named by Parnes (1986). It is not extant. Its type specimen is Department of Geology, Hebrew University, Jerusalem, HU-20481. Its type locality is Makhtesh Ramon (Saharonim Fm., lower Limestone-Gypsum Mb.), which is in a Longobardian carbonate limestone/gypsum in the Saharonim Formation of Israel.
